Welcome to Great Micro Schools. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the website located at greatmicroschools.org (the “Site”), operated by Great Micro Schools (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By accessing or using the Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

About the Site

Great Micro Schools is an online directory that helps families discover micro schools and other small, personalized learning environments. We provide information to help families make decisions and give schools a place to share information about their programs. The Site is provided as an informational resource.

Your Account

Some features of the Site require you to create an account. You agree to provide accurate information when you register and to keep it up to date. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. If you sign in using a third-party service such as Google, your use of that service is also subject to its terms. Please notify us promptly if you believe your account has been used without your permission.

Reviews and User Content

The Site allows you to submit content, including reviews, ratings, school listings, messages, profile photos, and images you upload for a school you manage (“User Content”). You retain ownership of the content you submit, but by submitting it you grant Great Micro Schools a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display, distribute, and use that content in connection with operating and promoting the Site.

You agree that any content you submit will be truthful and based on genuine experience, and that you will not post content that is false, misleading, defamatory, harassing, obscene, unlawful, or that infringes the rights of others. Reviews are intended to reflect real, first-hand experiences.

If you upload an image, you represent that you own it or have permission to use it, and that it does not infringe anyone's copyright or other rights. Images must be appropriate for a general audience and relevant to the school or profile they are attached to. Do not upload images of children without the permission of their parent or guardian.

We review submitted content before it is published and reserve the right to edit, decline, or remove any User Content at our discretion, including content that violates these Terms. This includes the right to remove any uploaded image from a profile or school listing at any time, without notice, including images uploaded by a verified school owner. We are not obligated to publish any submission.

Listing and Claiming a School

If you submit a school to the directory or claim an existing listing, you represent that the information you provide is accurate and that you are authorized to act on behalf of that school. We review new listings and ownership claims before approving them, and we may approve, decline, or revoke a listing or claim at our discretion. Approving a listing or claim does not constitute an endorsement of that school.

Accuracy of Directory Information

We work to provide helpful and current information, but we do not independently verify every detail of every school listed, and much of the information is provided by schools themselves or by other users. We make no guarantee about the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any listing, review, or other information on the Site. Any decisions you make based on information found on the Site—including decisions about a child's education—are your own responsibility, and we encourage you to independently confirm details directly with a school.

Map locations shown on school pages are generated automatically from the address a school provides and may be approximate. Where we know a location is imprecise, the page says so. Always confirm a school's address with the school directly before travelling.

Donations

Donations made through the Site are voluntary and are processed by Stripe. Donations are non-refundable except at our discretion. Great Micro Schools is not currently a registered tax-exempt organization, and donations are not tax-deductible at this time. We will update this page if that status changes.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to misuse the Site. This includes not attempting to interfere with the Site's operation or security, not accessing accounts or data that do not belong to you, not using automated tools to scrape or overload the Site, not submitting spam or malicious content, and not using the Site for any unlawful purpose.

Intellectual Property

The Site, including its design, text, graphics, logos, and other content we create, is owned by Great Micro Schools and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, or reuse our materials without our permission, except for content that you yourself have submitted.

Third-Party Links

The Site contains links to third-party websites, including the websites of listed schools. We provide these links for convenience and are not responsible for the content, products, or practices of any third-party site.

Disclaimer of Warranties

The Site is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Great Micro Schools and the people involved in operating it will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss arising out of your use of, or inability to use, the Site or any information on it.

Changes to the Site and These Terms

We may modify or discontinue any part of the Site at any time. We may also update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of the Site after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any disputes relating to these Terms or the Site will be handled in the appropriate courts located in Texas.
